The Boss Who Stole Christmas (Rainbow Falls Book 1) by Jana Aston

January 1, 2020

I wanted to end my 2019 reading challenge with a little Christmas fun. Jana Aston is one of my favorite authors. I love her quirky writing style, and sly hit ya in the gut one liners that get my chuckles rolling.  I devoured her books Wrong and Right, so when I saw that she wrote a Christmas Novella series I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. I was actually gifted book one and two from a secret Santa on Elfster. I'm so glad that I received this book because I really enjoyed reading it and can't wait for book two!

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a new boss for Christmas. Mine is the worst. The worst, hidden in a six foot tall package of male perfection. It’d be easier if he looked like an old Scrooge, wouldn’t it?

Nick Saint-Croix doesn’t look like an old scrooge. He’s hot as-

Um, never mind. Just bring me a new boss. Please.

Holly Winter

Reindeer Falls is more naughty than nice. They're over-the-top Christmas with merrily-ever-afters guaranteed. These stories are novella length for quick holiday binging. Enjoy!

My Review:

I give this book four stars. Mainly because like other readers I was a little irked by some of the things Holly did. I liked how Nick's character grew, but at times I felt that Holly's character was a little too flighty and crazy.

This book is a solid four for me. I thought it was a cute fast read. I enjoyed the sly Christmas commentary strategically placed throughout the book. I found myself laughing out loud a couple times at the over-the-top Christmas descriptions. Which made it fun to read and a great way to end my 2019 reading challenge on Goodreads. (Which I lost, btw.)

I always enjoy Jana Aston's books. They tick off all the right boxes in my list of things that can keep my attention in books, but after reading other readers reviews I feel I should be honest so that future readers know exactly what they are getting into.

If you're looking for a deep read with in depth character development, this isn't the book for you. It's a novella. The book's timeline is only about a month. It's a wam bam, let's make a sexy snowman kind of book. It's funny, and drenched in Christmas cheer. It was too fast of a read to really get to know Nick and Holly too much, but the details that are given throughout the book does make you feel for the characters. My heart grew a couple sizes when Nick finally revealed his soft side. I knew there was a little warmth under that Jack Frost exterior.

Another note before you read this book. If you hate Christmas and sex, it's probably better if you take your Grinchy eyes to another book, because this book is soaked in candy canes, and doing the Jingle Bell "Rock" with Santa's naughty elves in every nook and cranny. I definitely felt on the "Naughty list" after Holly and Nick had their first forbidden "holy" rendezvous.

If you're looking for a Hallmark Christmas movie dripped in sex ... in other words a Fast paced, quick romance with hot sex scenes, and a little bit of risqué mixed with snow, tinsel, and nutcrackers. This story is for you.

I knew what I was getting into before I picked it up, so if you go into reading this book with your jingle bells on, I'm sure you'll love it, too . Jana Aston is a hilarious author and she wrote the book to bring a smilee to your face. I know this for a fact, because she sure brought a smile to mine.

So, there you go . . . My review on a book that is your next dirty little Santa secret.
I can't wait to read the next book and see if Ginger can catch her gingerbread man.
